Bordeaux 2011: Our selection of wines

Explore our selection of wines that are from the classical 2011 vintage. 2011 was the second highest average temperature after 2003 in the recent years when it was released. The problem is that the sunshine was not here at the good moments, and the consequence is that some wines are not fresh as what they should be. This lack of freshness but with a normal concentration is good for peoples that prefer very round wines with a low acidity level. These characteristics means also that 2011 wines are made to be appreciate young but not to be kept long (excepting some producers like Château Léoville Las-Cases in Saint-Julien). The main problem was a lack of sunshine between January and June, lack of sunshine that has not been saved by a medium summer and a small piece of sunshine in september that has been continued by rain during the harvest. The result is that the producers were not able to harvest mature grapes with good concentration. 2013 red wines are mainly light to medium bodied with a high acidity level that is not supported by the tanins. The final result is a lot of wines that you have to wait because of the acidity level, but that you can't wait too long because of the low to medium tanins that are not capable to be kept long. Some wines were not so bad because of the good know-how of the producers and because of their hard work in the vineyard and in the cellars. You can find the ones that are still available from our selection in this category.
