Chartreuse nestled in the heart of a magnificent park of 3 hectares, in
the shadow of the bell tower of the Romanesque church, the Château
Fourcas Hosten is located in the heart of Listrac, peaceful village that
gives its name to the appellation.
In 1810, Mr. Hosten sold the vineyard, inherited from his father, a
lawyer in Bordeaux, to the family of Saint Affrique who, by creating the
Château Fourcas Hosten, gave it an international reputation. Since September 2006 Château Fourcas Hosten is owned by Renaud and Laurent Momméja.
Recognized as one of the great bourgeois crus of the Medoc peninsula,
Château Fourcas-Hosten produces a wine whose balance of assembly has
always been hailed as a success.
As part of a dynamic progression, the Momméja family and their team
have taken concrete steps to improve the existing structure, buildings
and 47 hectares of vineyards.
In 2008, important works are undertaken within the domain and concern
the renovation of the three cellars, the renovation of the chartreuse,
and a restoration work "of the vine.
Renaud and Laurent Momméja, surrounded by their team, devote a lot of

Terroir & Vineyard
The Listrac-Médoc appellation is located north-west of the Gironde;
christened "the roof of the Médoc", this terroir is 43 meters high and
the typicity of its soils and grape varieties have made it an essential
appellation as the wines produced there are of high quality.

Château Fourcas Hosten is one of the forerunners of the application of
the so-called "reasoned" struggle for the protection of the vineyard and
therefore of the environment.
Stripping, thinning, and parcel grass have become unavoidable practices
to obtain a healthy and mature harvest, with controlled yield.
An exceptional know-how
It is from the eighteenth century that the reputation of the Grand Cru
Médoc exceeds the borders and their consumption meets a real boom on all

Harvesting takes place every year on the 47 hectares of vineyards
traditionally, 75% by hand by trained harvesters, 25% mechanically. Before the beginning of the harvest, a harvest plan is established, varietal grape variety, and in a fragmented manner. Each bunch of grapes picked at maturity is carefully sorted before being sent to the vat room.

production to merchants in the Bordeaux market place so that their wines
are sold and distributed throughout the world.
